  • When SEARCHING for music, the most common way new tracks get discovered is by searching for keywords or phrases in a search engine.
Having a GREAT TRACK but a POOR DESCRIPTION decreases chances of use…
Remember, there are hundreds of thousands of other songs that you need to compete with, so make sure you stand out!
Improve your chances by putting time into data.
  • As the artist, you are the BEST TO DESCRIBE the work you have created.
Where there are collaborations on tracks, we STRONGLY advise that you collaborate to create inspirational data that catches people’s eye and gives them a reason to listen to your track in the first place.
  • Ola suggests that working efficiently, it could take up to one hour a track (including all of the relevant versions) to COMPLETE.
Writing the description requires as much passion and energy as creating the track. We want the viewer to feel the positive vibes you put into your writing.

Please remember that each version of a track needs an individual description.
Meaning you need to listen and describe EACH VERSION almost as if it was a different track.

Here is a guide of questions to consider when writing your descriptions:

  • What story is the song telling?
  • What instruments are used, and how are they played?
  • What do you hear and feel?
  • How are the vocals delivered? Who delivers them?
  • Where do you want the listeners to be?
  • What was the inspiration?
  • Who is the end-user? Picture them in your mind
  • Describe specific scenes, game type, sport etc?
  • Think about which formats/platforms/media might be targets?

General Note For All Instrumentals
In most circumstances as instrumentals ARE an exact copy of the vocal version, their descriptions only require any reference to the vocals removed.
