PRODUCTION NOTES
General Tip:
Library compositions ideally need to get to the hooks of the song quickly and capture the attention of the listener within a few seconds. Put yourself in an editor’s shoes – they may have to listen to possibly over 20 songs in a hurry. So, no lengthy or drawn-out DJ intros.
Endings:
Compositions should have ‘musical/definite endings’; do not use fade in/outs. Ideally, endings should musically “resolve” and preferably finish on the root note.
Timings:
You must stick to timings, with no sound hanging much over 30 seconds or ending before 29.5 seconds.
The last downbeat or musical content should be no more than 1.5 sec from the end. Avoid finishing with long reverbs or delays. However, a slight natural fade beyond the duration could work.
